Navigation Tools

3D map navigation tools help the author/user do all these: zoom in, zoom out, move around, tilt up, tilt down, and rotate the map. The button below navigation tools allows to switch between top-down view (2D) and perspective view (3D).

Mouse navigation in 3D

Mouse buttons are the default navigation tools for 3D map to pan, zoom in and out, and rotate or tilt your content when working in 3D visualization. The image below shows the mouse button navigators.

Alternatively, you can also rotate/tilt the map in 3D mode by holding down the CTRL button on the keyboard and using the left mouse button.

Touch navigation in 3D

You can pan the map using a single finger.

Tap the map using a single finger to select features.

You can zoom inwards or outwards the map by a pinch gesture with two fingers.

You can rotate the map by using a two-finger rotate gesture.

You can tilt the map by using two fingers and moving them up/down on the screen.

On-map navigators

Screen navigators are button commands with single click control located in the upper right corner of the map. Click control buttons are useful for navigating through challenging GIS content, especially 3D scenes link building. The buttons are suitable also for touch screen interaction. As in reloaded view, the navigator always indicates north. The image below shows the navigator in full control state for 3D and 2D views respectively.

User map setting

  • Lighting date: Select a given date and time to create closed volumes that model the shadows. Shadow volume will not be produced if the sun is not visible on the given date and time, or if the sun is at a vertical 90 degree angle to the input features.
  • Shadows: Click the checkbox to provide the shadowing projection based on a selected date and time.
  • Show meshes below terrain: Meshes that are below terrain level are drawn through the terrain.

  • Vector rendering mode: The user can choose to render on top of terrain, on top of 3D meshes, or on top of both.
